SEOUL, July 4 (Yonhap) -- Media art will light up the facade of a giant building in central Seoul next month in a cultural project to celebrate the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, the culture ministry said Tuesday.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the art project is to send a message that global young athletes will get together and engaged in "beautiful competition" and hope for a bright future in the host city of PyeongChang next year.

From August until next March, the wall of the 23-story Seoul Square will be turned into a giant canvas on which media works by nine Korean artist teams will be shown. For the summer, the project will run from 8 to 11 p.m. while it will be displayed from 6 to 11 p.m. during the winter.

"The program is meant to provide interesting and fun artwork to the public and to remind them of the meaning of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics that is 200 days away," the ministry said in a statement.
