S. Korean stocks down late Thursday morning
SEOUL, July 6 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded marginally lower late Thursday morning, as investors took to the sidelines amid lack of market momentum.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) shed 2.60 points, or 0.11 percent, to 2,385.75 as of 11:15 a.m.
Market kingpin Samsung Electronics rose 0.71 percent, while SK hynix, a major chipmaker, fell 0.15 percent.
Hyundai Motor, the No. 1 automaker, remained flat after falling for the third consecutive trading session.
Top steelmaker POSCO declined 0.68 percent, and the state-run Korea Electric Power Corp. advanced 0.24 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,152.45 won against the U.S. dollar, down 1.95 won from the previous session's close.
