S. Korea in final talks to win trainer jet order from Thailand
SEOUL, July 11 (Yonhap) -- Korea Aerospace Industries Co., South Korea's sole aircraft manufacturer, is in talks to win an order for eight advanced trainer jets from Thailand's Air Force, a corporate source with direct knowledge of the matter said Tuesday.
"KAI is in the final stage of receiving the order to build eight T-50 advanced trainer jets for Thailand's Air Force for 270 billion won (US$235 million)," the person, who wished to remain anonymous, told Yonhap News Agency.
The deal is expected to be signed in South Korea on July 29, and comes after the company previously signed a deal with Bangkok for four jets, he said.
In 2015, KAI won an order to export the T-50TH supersonic jets for $110 million, with the delivery of these planes scheduled to begin late this year or early 2018, the insider said.
