Top diplomats of S. Korea, Japan hold phone discussion on N.K. nuke test

SEOUL, Sept. 3 (Yonhap) -- Top diplomats of South Korea and Japan held a phone conversation on Sunday to discuss countermeasures against North Korea's sixth nuclear test, a foreign ministry official here said.

Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha spoke with her Japanese counterpart Taro Kono via phone, the official said. They were expected to share their concerns about the North's escalating threats and discuss responses including the pursuit of a new, tougher U.N. Security Council resolution against its regime.
