SEONGJU, South Korea, Sept. 7 (Yonhap) -- Hundreds of South Koreans clashed with police on Thursday ahead of the deployment of four more U.S. rocket launchers in southern South Korea.

The clash occurred as police were trying to disperse about 400 residents from their community center near the U.S. missile defense base in Seongju, some 300 kilometers south of Seoul.

Some of the residents were hurt, though their injuries remain unclear.

The latest tussle came hours before the U.S. military is to deploy the launchers along with construction equipment and related materials.
