All Headlines 18:44 September 20, 2017

SEOUL, Sept. 20 (Yonhap) -- Global messenger operator Telegram said Wednesday that its Asian users have been affected by an outage of its servers.

"The cause of the connection issues in Asia is a major power outage in our data center in Singapore," Telegram said in its Twitter message, adding that the company is investigating and fixing the problem.

A report by the website outage.report said users in the Asian region were unable to send or read messages as of 4:25 p.m.

Despite the problem encountered by the secure messenger service, other popular messenger apps including South Korea's Kakao Talk, its smaller cousin Line and rival WhatsApp are all functioning without a glitch, industry watchers here said.
