(LEAD) 'Thor: Ragnarok' wins box office for second consecutive weekend

SEOUL, Nov. 6 (Yonhap) -- "Thor: Ragnarok" won the box office this weekend for the second consecutive week following a strong opening in South Korea, data showed Monday.

According to the real-time based box office tally from the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), the Disney-Marvel superhero film sold 833,948 tickets over the Nov. 3-5 weekend to bring its domestic total to 3.57 million after 12 days in theaters. It stars such Hollywood A-listers as Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett and Idris Elba.

"Thor" was followed by local comedy "The Bros," which sold 605,690 tickets. The newcomer starring Ma Dong-seok and Lee Dong-hwi is about things happening to a penniless history teacher and his younger brother who is a promising executive at an architectural firm when they are reunited at their hometown for their father's funeral.

Another Korean film featuring Ma continued its long run in the fifth weekend in theaters.

The crime-action flick "The Outlaws" also starring Yoon Kye-sang added 266,598 to its cumulative audience figure of 6.37 million.

"Heart Blackened," also a newcomer, opened in fourth with 238,812 views.

The Korean legal thriller starring Choi Min-sik and Park Shin-hye tells the story of a business tycoon who struggles to clear his only daughter of the suspicion of killing his superstar singer fiance.

Coming in fifth was the Japanese romance film "Let Me Eat Your Pancreas" seen by 74,716 people.
