SEOUL, Nov. 13 (Yonhap) -- Local household appliances company Dongbu Daewoo Electronics said Monday it sold 32,000 of its wall-mounted mini washing machines in China during the Singles' Day shopping festival.

The washers sold out in 17 hours through Chinese online shopping malls including JD.com, suning.com and T-mall, meaning an average of 31 units were sold every minute, company officials said. This represents about five times average monthly sales, they said.

Singles' Day, celebrated Nov. 11 every year, has become the day when Chinese people go on shopping sprees to take advantage of 24-hour online sales.

Dongbu Daewoo has been marketing its mini washing machines on the day since 2014, selling 1,200 that year, 5,109 the following year and 20,000 in 2016. The product makes up 65 percent of the Chinese market for small washers.

The company also sold 4,000 refrigerators and microwave ovens sized for singles during the shopping festival.
