SEOUL, Nov. 16 (Yonhap) -- South Korean baseball club Samsung Lions announced Thursday they've re-signed the reigning league RBI champion Darin Ruf for another season.

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) team retained Ruf on a US$1.5 million deal. The former major leaguer led the KBO in 2017 with 124 RBIs in 134 games and batted .315 with 31 home runs.

Ruf joined the Lions before the 2017 season on a $1.1 million deal.

Ruf batted just .150 in his first 18 games in the KBO, but went off for seven homers and 23 RBIs in 25 games in May, while batting .330.

The infielder also had a strong finish with a .367 batting average, seven home runs and 28 RBIs in his final 21 games.

Despite Ruf's heroics at the plate, the Lions finished ninth among 10 clubs, and ranked near the bottom in major offensive categories.
