S. Korea sends back N. Korean fishing boat stranded in East Sea

DONGHAE, South Korea, Dec. 2 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean maritime police said Saturday that it sent back a North Korean fishing boat stranded in the East Sea to its country.

The ship was found adrift in waters some 29 kilometers south of the Northern Limit Line (NLL) in the East Sea due to the bad weather at 8:08 a.m., according to the police.

The NLL is the de facto maritime border between the two Koreas.

The maritime police rescued the boat with eight crew members aboard and sent it back home at 4:55 p.m. on humanitarian grounds.
