Seoul stocks start lower on tech sell-off

SEOUL, Dec. 5 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean bourse opened weak Tuesday, dragged down by a sell-off in heavyweight technology stocks.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 11.37 points, or 0.45 percent, to 2,490.30 in the first 15 minutes of trading.

Most large caps were seeing mixed trading, with market kingpin Samsung Electronics moving down 1.56 percent.

Top automaker Hyundai Motor declined 2.02 percent, while top steelmaker POSCO rose 2.22 percent.

The local currency was trading at 1,086.70 won against the U.S. dollar, up 2.0 won from the previous session's close.
