Seoul stocks start slightly higher on tech gains

SEOUL, Dec. 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korean shares opened slightly higher Thursday on the back of gains in heavyweight technology stocks.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 1.31 points, or 0.05 percent, to 2,475.68 in the first 15 minutes of trading.

Most large caps traded mixed, with market kingpin Samsung Electronics rising 0.76 percent.

Top automaker Hyundai Motor fell 0.31 percent, and top steelmaker POSCO declined 0.9 percent.

The local currency was trading at 1,093.80 won against the U.S. dollar, down 0.1 won from the previous session's close.
