Parliamentary chief to visit Peru for talks with top officials on bilateral cooperation

SEOUL, Dec. 13 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's National Assembly Speaker Chung Sye-kyun will leave for Peru on Wednesday for talks with top officials and politicians on bilateral cooperation, his office said.

During his eight-day trip arranged at the invitation of Peru's parliament, Chung will meet President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski and his Peruvian counterpart Luis Fernando Galarreta Velarde to explore ways to strengthen cooperation in trade, culture and other areas.

Chung also plans to use his trip to call for Peru's support for South Korean businesses operating in or seeking to advance into the South American market.

He will be accompanied by fellow lawmakers, including Democratic Party Reps. Jun Hye-sook and Eoh Ki-kyu, People's Party Rep. Son Kum-ju and Liberty Korea Party Rep. Joo Ho-young.
