SEOUL, Jan. 2 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's unification minister will make an announcement on inter-Korean ties on Tuesday, government officials said, a day after North Korean leader Kim Jong-un offered talks over the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

Minister Cho Myoung-gyon plans to issue a related statement at 2:00 p.m., the Ministry of Unification said without elaborating.

A source said that Seoul will likely say that it will accept the dialogue offer and set out details for talks.

The North's leader said Monday that his country is open to dialogue with Seoul over its intent to take part in the Winter Games to be held in South Korea next month.
