Production of Renault Samsung's SM6 sedan tops 100,000
SEOUL, Jan. 7 (Yonhap) -- Renault Samsung Motors Corp. said Sunday that the production of its SM6 midsize sedan for domestic sale has surpassed 100,000 units, nearly two years after hitting the market.
The South Korean unit of French carmaker Renault S.A. reached the milestone 22 months after the SM6 debuted in South Korea in March 2016.
Lee Ki-in, an executive vice president of Renault Samsung Motors, said he will maintain the success of the SM6 through strong quality control.
Last year, the carmaker sold a combined 276,808 units, up 7.6 percent from 257,345 units tallied in 2016. The increase was helped by robust exports of the SM6 midsize sedan and the QM6 SUV, according to the company.
