SEOUL, Jan. 10 (Yonhap) -- A budget contribution allocated to North Korea for the operation of the United Nations this year has been set at US$121,535, a U.S. broadcaster reported Wednesday.

The North's quota amounts to 0.005 percent of the cumulative assessments of $2.48 billion that shall be borne by all member states this year, and it is the 134th largest among the 193 member nations, Voice of America said, citing U.N. data.

The United States comes first with $591 million, and South Korea is ranked 13th with $49.5 million.

Member states are obliged to pay the expenses of the world peace body every year as apportioned by the General Assembly. The assembly determines the amount of each member's contribution according to their capacity every three years.
