JYJ's Park Yu-chun to hold fan meeting in Japan

SEOUL, Jan. 31 (Yonhap) -- Actor and singer Park Yu-chun, of boy band JYJ, announced Wednesday that he will hold a fan meeting in Japan in March, his first public appearance after being discharged from the military.

Park was discharged late Friday from Gangnam District Office in southern Seoul, where he served as a public worker to fulfill his military service, on Aug. 25.

All able-bodied South Korean men between the ages of 18 and 35 must serve in the military for about two years, as the country remains technically at war with North Korea.

The singer wrote on the group's official Japanese homepage that he will meet his international fans in Musashino on March 10-11. He will also perform his hit songs during the fan meeting titled, "Remember the Memories." The price of tickets is 10,800 yen (106,000 won) for all seats.

While serving his duty, Park was embroiled in a scandal as four different women, all working at local bars, lodged complaints against him in June 2016, claiming he raped them. Although he was later cleared of rape charges, the accusations and rumors about his private life left his clean and innocent image in tatters.

In April 2017, news broke that Park was getting married in September to a granddaughter of the founder of Namyang Dairy Product Co. But his agency later announced that the singer decided to indefinitely postpone the marriage to have more time to reflect on himself after the scandal.
