SEOUL, April 16 (Yonhap) -- The National Election Commission (NEC) has concluded that Financial Supervisory Service Gov. Kim Ki-sik breached the law when he made a donation to an association of lawmakers to which he belonged in 2016 when he was a National Assembly member, an official said Monday.

The election watchdog reached the conclusion after a meeting of commissioners presided over by NEC Chairperson Kwon Soon-il, an NEC official told Yonhap News Agency by phone.

In 2016, Kim donated 50 million won (US$46,566) to the association of Democratic Party lawmakers, named "The Better Future," even though he himself was a member of the group.

Kim has also been under mounting pressure to resign in the wake of revelations that three overseas trips he made as a lawmaker in 2014 and 2015 were funded by financial and research institutions under the oversight of his parliamentary financial committee.
