SEOUL, April 24 (Yonhap) -- LG Electronics Inc. said Tuesday it hosted a conference at its newly built research complex in western Seoul to share its achievements in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

The South Korean consumer electronics giant said it kicked off the LG InnoFest at the LG Science Park for a three-day run Monday. The company invested a whopping 4 trillion won (US$3.7 billion) in the science park, which began operations last week.

LG earlier said the complex will house 22,000 researchers by 2020, starting with a staff of 17,000 this year from major affiliates, including LG Electronics Inc., LG Display Co. and LG Chem Ltd.

The company said it invited business partners in Asia to the conference, showcasing various home appliances under the LG ThinQ lineup, which is a brand used for its AI-powered products.

LG also displayed the LG V30S ThinQ smartphone and ThinQ speaker equipped with the Google Assistant.

"On the back of the AI brand ThinQ, we plan to actively promote our distinctive AI technology and solidify ties with global partners, eventually to emerge as a brand admired by consumers in the overseas markets," LG said.
