Fire breaks out on Panamanian tanker off southern coast

TONGYEONG, South Korea, May 8 (Yonhap) -- A Panamanian oil tanker caught fire in waters off the country's southern coast, authorities said Tuesday.

The accident happened at around 9:10 a.m. in waters about 18 nautical miles south of an island of Tongyeong, about 340 kilometers south of Seoul, the authorities said. Patrol ships were sent to the scene.
