SEOUL, May 15 (Yonhap) -- Big-name K-pop stars Lee Hi and Zion. T will perform at Japan's Summer Sonic Festival in August, their agency said Tuesday.

The duo will appear at the Tokyo part of the annual rock festival to be held between Aug. 18-19 in the Japanese capital and Osaka, according to YG Entertainment.

Summer Sonic has hosted top-rung K-pop singers since pop legend Seo Taiji graced the stage in 2001 as the first South Korean singer.

K-pop sensations BIGBANG, as well as CL, Hyukoh, BoA and BTS, have performed at the annual music festival alongside Japanese and international musicians.

Popular English rock band Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and American singer-songwriter Beck have also been invited for the 2018 festival.

Lee, whose real name is Lee Ha-yi, officially debuted in 2012 after appearing on the local talent-recruiting reality show "K-pop Star" and released her Japanese debut album in March.
