SEOUL, June 5 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's tourism promotion agency said Tuesday that it will hold a tourism festival in Japan in the latest effort to attract more Japanese travelers.

The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism are set to hold the event at Tokyo Dome City, a massive entertainment complex in downtown Tokyo, on June 12 and 13.

Concerts and exhibits will be held at the festival, along with more than 29 organizations that will showcase South Korea's tourism attractions in six categories, including medical tourism, food and the Korean Wave, known as "hallyu," the KTO said.

Korean actor Lee Jong-seok, who currently serves as an honorary ambassador for the KTO, will also appear at the festival to introduce Korean tourism programs.

South Korea has fallen out of favor with Japanese travelers, dropping in the ranking of their favorite trip destinations, the KTO said, citing its analysis last year.

Still, the number of incoming Japanese tourists gradually increased following the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
