SEOUL, June 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korea will continue active efforts to help next week's historic summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un produce substantial and meaningful results, Cheong Wa Dae said after a National Security Council meeting.

Members of the NSC standing committee reached the decision during a meeting that Chung Eui-yong, chief of the presidential National Security Office, presided over to discuss developments related to the U.S.-North Korea summit set to take place in Singapore on Tuesday, the presidential office said.

The NSC members also decided to make efforts to ensure that a series of planned meetings with North Korea will take place as scheduled, while pushing forward with reconciliation projects as soon as possible, such as the opening of a liaison office as well as railway, road and forestation projects, the office said.
