WASHINGTON, June 7 (Yonhap) -- U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday that his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is "all ready to go."

The highly anticipated meeting in Singapore is five days away as the two sides try to reach a deal on dismantling North Korea's nuclear weapons program in exchange for security guarantees.

"The summit is all ready to go," Trump said at the top of a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the White House, adding, "We've been preparing for a long time."

The first summit between the two countries will be more than just a photo-up, he said, and could be followed by more meetings.

"They have to denuke," he said, adding that anything else will be unacceptable. "We cannot take the sanctions off."

Trump said he expects the meeting to be "very fruitful" and "very exciting."
