LG Display supplies organic LED panels to China's Hisense
SEOUL, June 10 (Yonhap) -- LG Display Co. has been supplying organic light emitting diode (LED) display panels to China's Hisense Electric Co. since the second quarter, according to an industry source Sunday.
Supplying the panels to Hisense, China's No. 1 television maker, is expected to help LG Display increase its earnings.
Hisense is likely to begin selling high-definition televisions equipped with LG Display's organic LED panels in the third quarter.
According to data by IHS Markit data, global shipments of organic LED televisions jumped to 602,000 units in the first quarter, compared with 287,000 units a year ago.
Global shipments of organic LED televisions are expected to grow to 673,000 units in the second quarter, 743,000 units in the third quarter and 804,000 units in the fourth quarter, the data showed.
