SEOUL, June 11 (Yonhap) -- Sales of books on North Korea have jumped eightfold so far this year as a result of the North's dialogues with Seoul and Washington, Yes 24, a leading online bookstore, said Monday.

The company said it sold 29,950 volumes on North Korea between Jan. 1 and June 10, an increase of 699.1 percent from a year earlier.

Sales picked up in May, totaling 22,620, or 75.5 percent of overall sales of North Korea-related books this year.

The number of books on the subject published this year increased to 46 from 30 in the same period last year.

The bookstore attributed the rise to the impact of two inter-Korean summits held on April 27 and May 26.

"Password from the Third Floor," the memoir of former North Korean diplomat Thae Yong-ho, was the store's top seller for the third consecutive week following its publication last month.
