President Moon returns to work after sick leave

All Headlines 09:29 July 02, 2018

SEOUL, July 2 (Yonhap) -- President Moon Jae-in has fully recovered from the sickness that forced him to stay away from work last week and returned to work early Monday, the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae said.

"President Moon came to the office at 9 a.m., and is currently holding a daily meeting with his staff," a Cheong Wa Dae official told reporters.

The 65-year-old president was forced to take a two-day leave from Thursday after coming down with a cold.

It marked the first time for Moon to take sick leave since taking office in May 2017.

His busy schedule has largely been blamed for his sickness, but his unexpected departure from office still prompted many suspicions over his health.

The Cheong Wa Dae official dismissed any such suspicions, adding the president will hold a weekly meeting with his top aides later in the day, which usually is open to the press at least partially.
