GM Korea's June sales rise 6.5 pct on exports

SEOUL, July 2 (Yonhap) -- GM Korea Co., the South Korean unit of General Motors Co., said Monday its June sales rose 6.5 percent from a year earlier helped by exports.

GM Korea sold 46,546 vehicles last month, up from 43,693 units a year earlier on robust overseas demand for mini vehicles and recreational vehicles, the company said in a statement.

Domestic sales fell 17 percent to 9,529 units last month from 11,455 a year ago. Exports rose 15 percent to 37,017 units from 32,238 during the same period, it said.

In the January-June period, GM Korea saw its combined sales decline 12 percent to 246,386 vehicles from 278,999 a year earlier, the company said.
