SEOUL, July 5 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co. said Thursday it has finished the installation of the largest LED screen in South America, which is expected to help the company expand sales of such solutions in the large market.

The company said the screen, measuring 7.7 meters tall and 63 meters wide, was installed at the Plaza Norte shopping mall in Lima.

The screen is IP65 dust-and-water resistant and can endure changing weather conditions, the South Korean tech company added.

Samsung said it hopes the new LED screen becomes a new landmark for the region, just as Time Square is a popular attraction in New York.

"Samsung Electronics is being acknowledged around the globe for its LED signage products based on distinctive technologies," the company said. "We plan to expand our presence in the Central and South American markets."
