SEOUL, July 23 (Yonhap) -- British American Tobacco (BAT) said Monday it will start sales of the second-generation glo cigarette heating device in South Korea next week.

BAT Korea said the new edition of glo will come with improved design and performance compared with the first generation showcased in August 2017, claiming the new device can be used up to 30 times on a single charge.

The company also unveiled Neo, a non-burning tobacco stick that is used in the device, which will replace Neostiks designed for the new glo's predecessor.

Neo will be produced at the production line in Sacheon, 437 kilometers southeast of Seoul.

BAT Korea said its studies showed users of glo were exposed to significantly smaller amounts of harmful elements than smokers of conventional cigarettes.

Matthieu Juery, who heads BAT's South Korean operation, claimed the company will continue to provide various choices to South Korean consumers seeking products with reduced risks.

The company said the new product will be released in black and gray with a price tag of 90,000 won (US$79) on July 30.
