Samsung introduces two new tablet PCs

SEOUL, Aug. 2 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co. on Thursday unveiled two new tablet PCs, the Galaxy Tab S4 and Galaxy Tab A 10.5, in line with efforts to diversify its mobile portfolio.

The company said the 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab S4 comes with a Super AMOLED display with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa Core chipset, along with a 7,300 mAh battery. Samsung said the battery capacity will enable users to enjoy videos for 16 hours.

The Galaxy Tab S4 is also significant as it is the first Samsung tablet PC to support connection to the Samsung DeX, or desktop extension system, which allows users to utilize mobile devices like a personal computer by connecting it to a monitor.

The new tablet comes with 13-megapixel and 8-megapixel cameras. The storage capacity options are 64 GB and 256 GB, which can be extended up to 400 GB through micro SDs.

"Paired with a polished modern design, an immersive display, four speakers and enhanced entertainment features, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is the perfect device for those who need something portable like a tablet and capable like a PC," the company said.

Samsung said the tablet's Knox security system will also guarantee top-notch safety in terms of protecting private information.

The tablet comes with the S-Pen, boasting various features, including translation and even sending customized messages through Samsung Live Message.

"We look forward to providing our customers with a sense of leisure and comfort knowing that this new addition to our ecosystem of connected devices is also packed with features to help them stay entertained," the company said.

Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Tab A 10.5, which will come with a "budget-friendly price."

The Galaxy Tab A 10.5 comes with an LCD display, along with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Octa Core chipset. It has two cameras: an 8 megapixel and a 5 megapixel.

The storage capacity stands at 32 GB, which can also be extended up to 400 GB through micro SDs. The battery size is 7,300 mAh.

Samsung said the Galaxy Tab A 10.5 is especially designed for entertainment, featuring a 16:10 screen-to-body ratio based on its slimmer bezels.

"Four speakers are built into each corner of the tablet with support from Dolby Atmos, which transforms your mobile entertainment experience with moving audio that flows all around you," the company said.

The global releases of the two tablets will begin this month.
