Seoul stocks trade lower Thursday morning

SEOUL, Aug. 2 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded lower late Thursday morning on re-emerging woes over Washington and Beijing's trade dispute.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index fell 16.43 points, or 0.71 percent, to 2,305.18 as of 11:20 a.m.

Tech giants continued to lose ground, with Samsung Electronics moving down 0.64 percent and No. 2 chipmaker SK hynix falling 0.7 percent.

Financial shares also traded lower, with KB Financial decreasing 2.23 percent and Shinhan Financial moving down 0.69 percent. Samsung Life Insurance slid 0.41 percent.

The South Korean currency was changing hands at 1,120.65 won against the U.S. dollar, down 0.05 won from the previous session's close.
