Angel-in-us Coffee to adopt lids to reduce use of plastic straws

All Headlines 11:02 August 08, 2018

SEOUL, Aug. 8 (Yonhap) -- Angel-in-us Coffee, the cafe chain operated by South Korean retail giant Lotte, said Wednesday it will introduce lids for cold drinks to replace single-use straws in the latest efforts by companies to reduce plastic use.

The lids will be gradually implemented at its stores nationwide starting Monday, marking the first time for such strawless lids to be introduced in the country, according to the company.

The latest move is part of retailers' broader efforts to tackle pollution from plastic waste.

In July, Starbucks Coffee Co. said it will eliminate single-use plastic straws from its 28,000 stores worldwide by 2020.
