SEOUL, Aug. 8 (Yonhap) -- LG Electronics Inc. said Wednesday it has joined forces with Habitat for Humanity, a global charity organization, to improve education facilities for Brazilian students living in an underdeveloped neighborhood.

Under the project, the two organizations will improve facilities at a youth center located in Heliopolis of Sao Paulo.

LG and Habitat will renovate classrooms and playgrounds over the next five months.

The South Korean tech giant said it wishes to provide a better education environment for children living in the district.

LG said it decided to lend its assistance to Heliopolis considering children in the area lack access to decent education, with the majority of the residents there living in poverty.

The company has been rolling out various projects in Brazil, including supporting orphanages and promoting blood donations.
