Seoul shares down in late morning on tech losses

SEOUL, Aug. 10 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded lower late Friday morning as both foreign and institutional investors offloaded large-cap tech shares.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) shed 15.54 points, or 0.67 percent, to 2,288.77 as of 11:20 a.m.

Most large caps were experiencing mixed trading, with tech shares generally in negative territory.

Market kingpin Samsung Electronics lost 3.41 percent, and SK hynix, a major chipmaker, was down 3.59 percent.

The local currency was trading at 1,124.1 won against the U.S. dollar, 6.9 won lower than the previous session's close.
