SEOUL -- K-pop boy group BTS has scored its second No. 1 title on the Billboard 200 Albums chart with its latest work, "Love Yourself: Answer."

It is the K-pop sensation's second achievement on the American music chart after its "Love Yourself: Tear" rose to the top in May, rewriting K-pop music history.

Moon's chief of staff stresses need to resume U.S.-N. Korea talks

SEOUL -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in's chief of staff called for efforts to restart denuclearization talks between the United States and North Korea on Monday, two days before Moon's special envoy is set to visit the communist state.

"I expect (the special envoy) to return after fixing the date for President Moon Jae-in's Pyongyang trip this fall," Im Jong-seok wrote on his Facebook page.

S. Korea steelmakers ask for exception from U.S. import quota

SEOUL -- South Korea's major steelmakers have called on the U.S. government to exclude some of their products from the 70 percent U.S. steel import quota, industry sources said Monday.

POSCO-AAPC, the automotive steel cutting plant of South Korea's leading steelmaker POSCO based in the U.S., has recently asked the Department of Commerce to give an exception to grain-oriented electrical steel products it imports from POSCO's plants in Korea from the limit, a POSCO official said over the phone.

Koreas in consultation to determine date for launch of liaison office

SEOUL -- South and North Korea are in talks to determine the exact schedule for their agreed-upon opening of a joint liaison office, a government official said Monday amid speculation that a delay in its launch might be associated with the United States being wary of its possible violation of sanctions.

"Consultations are under way between the South and the North now," Baik Tae-hyun, unification ministry spokesman, told reporters during a regular press briefing. "I want you to understand this not as a delay but something that has not been finalized.

Seoul city to hold air quality forum with Asian neighbors

SEOUL -- The Seoul Metropolitan Government is set to host a regional air quality forum with its Asian counterparts this week to discuss ways to better tackle worsening air conditions, including fine dust issues, its official said Monday.

The 8th Northeast Asia Forum on Air Quality Improvement will kick off Tuesday for a two-day run at Seoul City Hall, attended by officials and experts from 32 cities in the Asian region, according to the Seoul government.

Song Joong-ki holds fan meet-and-greet to mark 10th anniversary of debut

SEOUL -- Actor Song Joong-ki hosted a meet-and-greet event over the weekend to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his debut, his talent agency said Monday.

Blossom Entertainment said the event held at the Grand Peace Palace of Kyung Hee University in Seoul on Saturday attracted avid fans from all over Asia.
