Sales of Renault Samsung's QM6 GDe SUV top 20,000

All Headlines 14:33 September 21, 2018

SEOUL, Sept. 21 (Yonhap) -- Renault Samsung Motors Corp. said Friday that sales of its QM6 GDe SUV have surpassed the 20,000-unit mark.

The milestone was reached about a year after the model made its debut here in September 2017, the carmaker said.

The numbers mark the first time that a mid-sized SUV powered by a gasoline engine has sold over 20,000 units in the South Korean market. Many locals prefer diesel-fueled cars for their greater fuel economy.

French carmaker Renault S.A. owns an 80 percent stake in Renault Samsung.
