SEOUL, Oct. 16 (Yonhap) -- The ministry of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) said Tuesday it held a South Korea-France "startup summit" in France to support venture firms entering each other's markets.

The networking event on Monday was arranged during President Moon Jae-in's visit to France this week and offered programs for investor relations, corporate presentations and business consultations, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups said.

Four agreements were signed between agencies of the two countries that provide assistance to startups, including one between South Korea's Small and Medium Business Corp. and Bpifrance.

Venture capitalists, angel investors and buyers from France provided one-on-one business consultations, and an investor relations "pitching contest" featured 19 firms, 12 from South Korea and seven from France, who were selected for their innovation and capacity to enter foreign markets, the ministry said.

A separate conference was held to share information on support policies for startups and examples of successful venture firms, it said.
