SEOUL, Nov. 29 (Yonhap) -- The Genesis G70 sedan and Hyundai Motor Co.'s Kona subcompact sport utility vehicle have been shortlisted as finalists for the 2019 North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) award, the South Korean automaker said Thursday.
The G70 is one of three finalists in the category of passenger cars, along with Honda Motor Co.'s Insight and Volvo's S60. The Kona made the top three in the SUV category, together with Honda's Acura RDX and Jaguar Land Rover Ltd.'s I-Pace, the company said in a statement.
It is the first time that a South Korean crossover has made NACTOY's finalist list, the company said. The annual awards are determined by a jury of 54 journalists from print, online, radio and television publications.
Hyundai sells G70, G80 and G90 sedans under the independent Genesis brand.
The winner of the 2019 NACTOY awards will be announced at the Detroit Motor Show in January next year.
