SEOUL, Nov. 30 (Yonhap) -- Kia Motors Corp.'s C-segment hatch Ceed has made it to the shortlist of seven finalists for the 2019 European Car of the Year (ECOTY), the company said Friday.
The six other finalists are the Alpine A110, Citroen C5 Aircross, Ford Focus, Jaguar I-Pace, Mercedes-Benz A-Class and Peugeot 508, Kia said in a statement.
The Kia Ceed was shortlisted for the ECOTY awards in 2008, and the Kia Stinger sports sedan advanced to become an ECOTY finalist in 2018. Both failed to win the awards.
The nominees were selected from 38 candidates that were announced earlier this year. The candidates included the Audi A6, BMW 3 Series, Hyundai Santa Fe and Volkswagen Touareg.
The final winner will be announced during the Geneva Motor Show in March next year.
