SEOUL, Dec. 6 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Co. said Thursday its all-new Santa Fe sport-utility vehicle has earned five stars, the highest rating, in the Euro NCAP safety tests.

The European New Car Assessment Program, or Euro NCAP, tested the Santa Fe SUV in four categories: safety of adult passengers, safety of children in rear seat, safety assistance system, safety of passers-by and bicycles on roads, Hyundai said in a statement.

"As the Euro NCAP is one of the world's renowned safety tests of new vehicles, Hyundai achieving a top rating will help stimulate sales in the global market," it said.

Hyundai launched the new Santa Fe in the domestic market in February and in the United States this summer.
