SEOUL, Dec. 7 (Yonhap) -- President Moon Jae-in's job approval rating dropped sharply this week, tying with its previous lowest level since taking office last year, a poll showed Friday.

In a weekly survey conducted by Gallup Korea, Moon's job approval rating came to 49 percent, down 4 percentage points from a week earlier.

The reading is a repeat of the record low posted in the first week of September, according to the local pollster.

The latest survey was conducted Tuesday through Thursday, involving 1,002 adults across the nation.

The sharp drop follows a series of corruption allegations involving some special inspectors at the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae, forcing the presidential office to replace all such inspectors.

Forty-one percent of those surveyed said they did not approve of Moon's performance as president, up 2 percentage points from a week before.

The ruling Democratic Party's approval rating dropped 1 percentage point to 40 percent over the cited period.

The main opposition Liberty Korea Party's rating, on the other hand, gained 2 percentage points to 17 percent, while those of the minor opposition Bareunmirae Party and the progressive Justice Party each slipped 1 percentage point to 6 percent and 10 percent, respectively.

The approval rating of the minor opposition Party for Democracy and Peace remained unchanged at 1 percent.
