Anti-trust watchdog looks into Korean Air, Asiana over mileage points

All News 16:50 December 10, 2018

SEJONG, Dec. 10 (Yonhap) -- The anti-trust watchdog said Monday it has been looking into Korean Air Lines Co. and Asiana Airlines Inc. over their management of mileage points since 2008.

The move by the Fair Trade Commission came after a parliamentary audit in October pointed out that it has been difficult for customers of the two airlines to buy tickets using their mileage points.

At the end of last year, the two airlines held miles worth some 2.6 trillion won (US$2.3 billion).

Critics say the two airlines have been increasingly offering mileage points without securing seats for mileage use.
