SEOUL, Dec. 15 (Yonhap) -- Mnet will launch the fourth series of "Produce 101" for male contestants next year, featuring wannabe K-pop stars from around the world, the South Korean music channel said Saturday.

"Produce X 101" will search for the new talents regardless of their nationality, targeting the global music market, Mnet said.

Males born before March 2005 can apply for the "global idol project" by mid-January. Applicants should send their profile, introduction and video clips via email, the music channel said.

Wanna One, a project boy group comprised of 11 winners from the second series of "Produce 101," has been a smashing hit, sweeping the domestic music charts in 2017.

The first and third series also garnered success by bringing a list of girl group trainees into the main spotlight.
