SEOUL, Jan. 2 (Yonhap) -- South Korean football club Seongnam FC said Wednesday they've acquired Martiniquais winger Mathias Coureur.

Seongnam, returning to the top flight K League 1 for the first time since 2016, said Coureur has completed a medical test and is currently training with team for the 2019 season.

Coureur made his pro debut in 2007 with then-second-tier French club Beauvais. He then had stints in Spain, Bulgaria and Georgia. The 30-year-old winger played for Kazakh club Kaisar last season.

Seongnam said Coureur is a player who has pace and technique and can also play as a central attacking midfielder. Seongnam also said Coureur will adjust to Korean culture well with his abundant experiences overseas.

"I have big expectations for South Korean football," Coureur said through the club. "I want to prove my value with goals and assists."

Seongnam, led by head coach Nam Ki-il, have seven K League 1 titles, the most among all clubs. They were the runners-up in the K League 2 last season but returned to the first division after the second division champions Asan Mugunghwa were disqualified from promotion.

Asan, run by the South Korean police, were denied promotion after they failed to submit a recruitment plan for 2019.
