3 sailors missing after fishing boat capsizes off southern coast

TONGYEONG, South Korea, Jan. 11 (Yonhap) -- A fishing boat overturned off the country's southern coast Friday, leaving three sailors missing and two others unconscious, authorities said.

The 9.77-ton Mujeok, carrying 14 sailors, capsized in waters about 80 kilometers south of Yokji Island at around 5 a.m., according to the Coast Guard. The island is located near the coastal city of Tongyeong, about 330 km south of Seoul.

Eleven of them have been rescued and were sent to a hospital in Yeosu, including the two who were found unconscious.

Search operations are under way to find the missing three, the authorities said.
