Six in 10 SMEs engage in social contributions: survey
SEOUL, Jan. 15 (Yonhap) -- Six out of 10 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are engaged in social contribution efforts, an industry survey showed Tuesday.
According to the survey conducted by the KBIZ SME Love Sharing Foundation on 311 SMEs, 61.7 percent responded that they are participating in various programs to help society.
An average of 21.5 million won (US$19,200) was spent on social activities last year, slightly down from 22.1 million won a earlier, the survey showed.
The latest findings indicate that 91.1 percent of the businesses checked took part in social contribution efforts at home.
The foundation said 43.2 percent of their programs were focused on children and 18.8 percent on assisting senior citizens.
