SEJONG, Feb. 12 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's total supply in manufacturing rose 3.5 percent in the fourth quarter from a year earlier on increases in both production at home and imports, government data showed Tuesday.

The manufacturing domestic supply index -- which measures both goods produced locally and brought into South Korea -- stood at 108.1 during the October-December period, according to the data compiled by Statistics Korea.

The on-year hike is attributable to an increase in domestic supply and imports.

The supply of South Korean-made goods rose 2.3 percent in the fourth quarter from a year earlier, while that for imported products increased 6.9 percent on-year.

In 2016, the statistical office came up with the index to measure the total domestic supply of locally produced goods and imported products, with the base number for 2015 set at 100.

The index for consumer goods rose 5.5 percent in the fourth quarter from a year earlier, and the figure for intermediate goods jumped 5.9 percent, with that of capital goods falling 8 percent on-year, the data showed.

Asia's fourth-largest economy grew 1 percent in the fourth quarter from three months earlier, jumping from a 0.6 percent on-quarter gain in both the second and third quarters, according to the Bank of Korea.
