SEOUL, April 2 (Yonhap) -- Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon said Tuesday the government will seek to draw up an extra budget in April to cope with the economic slowdown.

"The International Monetary Fund has proposed that South Korea draw up a supplementary budget, citing downside factors. We will submit a proposal on an extra budget in April to the National Assembly," Lee said at a meeting with senior officials from the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae, the government and the ruling party.

"The government should do everything that it can do pre-emptively," he added.
