SEOUL, April 4 (Yonhap) -- LG Display Co., a major flat panel maker, said Thursday that its accumulative sales of automotive displays have topped 100 million, or enough to cover 200 football pitches.
LG Display has been providing automotive displays to global automakers such as Daimler AG, BMW, Hyundai Motors, Toyota, Honda, Tesla and GM.
LG Display said it is aiming to generate 2 trillion won in sales from the automotive display business sector by 2021 by focusing on high-resolution LCD panels as well as plastic OLED (POLED) displays that offer great design flexibility.
LG Display has been focusing on making investments and building up capabilities in making 5-inch and larger size displays.
According to market researcher IHS Markit, LG Display has ranked as the top global provider of 5-inch and larger automotive displays for eight consecutive quarters since the beginning of 2017 in terms of shipments, display area and revenue.
